(wife of Jack Coskey)
Tribute to Thelma
by her daughter, Dawn
I still to this day pick up the phone and try to call my Mom. My Mom was
my best friend. When we were young, Mom always made sure us kids got to
Wildwood for vacations and season passes for the Pennsauken pool. Home
made birthday cakes that she professionally decorated to look like Barbie dolls,
or batman that took days to make, were the norm in our house. Holidays were
homemade cheese bread, pies (especially cherry cheese) and of course Mom's
Christmas cookies that were hidden in bins, that we always found and devoured
before the holidays were there. Kids running through the house, lots of
noise, lots of laughter, because that is the way Mom liked it.
When I was a
teenager, and felt completely lost, Mom stood by me until I found my way.
My Mom had seven kids (Joey, Mike, Kathy, Debbie, Craig, Dawn and John) and we
all used to tease her about "which one" was her favorite. She always said we all
were, and I believe it. All of us "kids" and her grandkids too, will
always miss this warm, happy, laughing, giving woman that enjoyed her family and
life to the fullest.
She had no
fear. She once drove Craig, John and myself to Oklahoma in the middle of
January. Snow on the mountains makes for hairy moments but as long as I
was with her, I was not afraid. That is how I will always remember her,
fearless and unafraid to try to new things.
My Mom has
been gone for 7 years now and I never stop missing her or thinking about her.
She was all about her family. We were what was important to her.
"Remember Me"
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can
listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So, as you stand upon a shore,
Gazing at a beautiful sea,
Remember me.
As you look upon a flower
And admire its simplicity,
Remember me.
Remember me in your heart,
your thoughts and memories-
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me,
I will never be gone.
